Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 - July Week 3
For the second straight week, a non-idol artist claims the No. 1 spot on our chart. Hip-hop group Dynamic Duo scores their first ever No. 1 song with “BAAAM.”
This song is the title track of Dynamic Duo’s seventh album “Luckynumbers.” This additive number features Muzie of UV. “BAAAM” is about a man under control by a charming woman that makes him feel miserable. Dynamic Duo debuted back in 2004 and are one of the hardcore hip-hop acts that also enjoys mainstream success. While their album is always a top seller, they finally have their first No. 1 song. Despite not being in the top 10 last week, “BAAAM” moves up 11 spots to overtake last week’s No. 1 Lee Seung Chul’s “My Love.” It was not too surprising as “BAAAM” had three music show wins last week as well. Congratulations.
Besides “BAAAM”, three other new songs were in the top 10 this week. Right below the top two songs we find Davichi’s latest single “Missing You Today,” moving up 17 spots to No. 3. This medium tempo ballad with acoustic guitar arrangement further brings out the sad mood of the song. This is already the fourth top 10 song for Davichi in 2013. The duo scored three top 10 hits from their album “Mystic Ballad” earlier this year.
Moving up 22 spots to No. 4 is A Pink’s “NoNoNo,” the title track from their third mini-album “Secret Garden.” This Shinsadong Tiger written number is a healing song which is expected to give listeners comfort and hope and courage. “NoNoNo” has a good chance to become our next No. 1 song as it has already won in two music programs this week.
At the bottom of the top 10 we find John Park’s “Baby.” This song moves up 12 spots to No. 10 this week. It is the title track from John Park’s first full length album “Inner Child.” John Park spent more than a year to prepare for this album. “Baby” is a retro style pop rock track with a funky chorus that fits the singer’s special voice.
