[Recap] Soompi Weekly Roundup – September Week 2
All the important Korean Entertainment news from this week in one place: This is your Weekly Soompi Roundup!
- Does Girl’s Day‘s Yura have beef with miss A‘s Suzy or did she just get photographed at an unfortunate angle? You decide.
- Do you miss Song Joong Ki? Here are several updates on his army life. His BFF Kwangsoo was worried about him too.
- The bullying incident may never leave T-ara. The group had to pay a big fine to the fashion company Chatelaine.
- So JYP Entertainment and JYP merged into one company. I honestly didn’t even know they were separate companies. You can read the detailed explanation here.
- SM, YG, and CJ E&M made a lot of money from exports this year. This means they made a lot of money from you.
- A gallery of Korean celebrities and their babies! Who could not love this?
- The Soompi Ullzzang Contest is Back! Ah! A contest full of eye candy! Think you got what it takes to win this year’s competition? With the video interview with Nega Network as the prize, you might also become an idol too! Please don’t forget Soompi when you’re big and famous. E.Den didn’t.
The SNS photo of the week goes to Kim Hee Chul and his date with his label dongseng Sulli. It’s good to see Heechul back and it’s good to see the SM members having good relationships with each other.
Also, check out Taeyeon‘s sexy photo and Lee Jun Ki pulling off the long wig. For more SNS goodness, check out our K-Pop Instagram gallery.
Next…Step aside idols, it’s time for some healing music.
The music video of the week goes to Drunken Tiger‘s “The Cure.” It’s been awhile since I’ve heard Yoon Mi Rae‘s voice sound sweet like that, I almost didn’t recognize it. Also, with so many “swag” centered K-Rap songs in Korea, the song’s message was refreshing to listen to.
Other notable music videos:
- Crayon Pop – “Bar Bar Bar 2.0“
- Park Jin Young – “Had Enough Parties“
- Soyu and Mad Clown – “Stupid in Love“
- BTS – “N.O.”
- Lim Kim – “Voice” Feat. Swings
- GI – “Booshit” Feat. Dok2
- Outsider – “Hope Torture” Feat. Son Seung Yeon
- Shin Cho I and Let’s Go Dandy Boys – “By Your Side”
- Five Dolls – “Love Me, Love Me Not” Feat. Dani
- Rock band Jaurim will be making a comeback in October.
- In other music news, Stardom Entertainment will be debuting a 13 member boy band. Hopefully they did learn from their Block B incident and we won’t see any more boy bands suing their label.
- We’re giving away autographed polaroids of girls of Five Dolls! Sweet!
- Did you read Lim Kim‘s third letter to Soompiers? More goodies coming from her soon.
This week’s fashion pictorial goes to miss A and their spunky look for MLB Korea. Check out Suzy’s commercial too. She’s gorgeous!
Next…This is a nice poster, a very nice poster.
- This “No Breathing” poster seems targeted to a specific demographic. I’m not complaining.
- I’ve been a little obsessed with “The Heirs” and it’s making me nervous because the drama hasn’t even aired yet. What if it turns out to be horrible? It won’t right? Look at those stills of the leads Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye. It’s going to be good right?
- There are other dramas too so let’s not forget “Passionate Love” stills with Seohyun looking more than worthy of being someone’s first love and “Expect Dating” with BoA in her drama debut.
- “Reply 1994” revealed its first poster. Think it will be as good as the first one?
- Girls’ Generation‘s YoonA and Lee Bum Soo are considering leading together in an upcoming drama. Big age gap but maybe it can work considering the “Sound of Music” premise.
- Are you watching “Master’s Sun” and following the Soompi recap? The most recent episode had so many gasp worthy moments!
- The other Lee Min Ho and Bae Seul Gi have been cast in a new historical movie.
- “Rough Play” starring Lee Joon revealed its first dramatic trailer.
In variety news…
- With two new couples “We Got Married” had a very big press conference. You can read about what the producer and the couples had to say about each other.
- If you hate change like me, you can read about last week’s episode of “We Got Married.” I am not ashamed to admit that I cried…like a baby.
- “Running Man” has gone to the idols. Check out the stills from the idol episode of last week and the upcoming Big Bang episode.
- Clara Ha turned down the “Sebakwi” MC role so the producers decide to do temporary MCs for now. SHINee‘s Key and A Pink‘s Jung Eun Ji will lead the list of guest MCs.
