G-Dragon, EXO, Cho Yong Pil, Lee Jong Suk: Who Will Be 2013’s Top “Style Icon”?

Returning “King of Singers” Cho Yong Pil, icon-of-everything G-Dragon, trend idols EXO, 21^st century gentleman  Lee Jong Suk… Amongst these nominees, who will be this year’s top “Style Icon?””

The “2013 Style Icon Awards (2013 SIA)” revealed all 50 nominees on October 2. The concept for this year’s “Style Icon Awards” is a special existence, namely, a style icon who possesses outstanding presence and originality. Musicians make up the bulk of the nominee list.

Amongst these, we have “returning legend” top singer Cho Yong Pil; sexy confident singer Lee Hyori; international singer PSY; idols who debuted 16 years ago Shinhwa; pride of Korean hip-hop Dynamic Duo; legendary K-Pop girl group Girls’ Generation; emerging as icon-of-everything G-Dragon; sensational newcomer idols EXO; next generation number one K-Pop girl group f(x); Korean’s representative sentimental band Busker Busker; boy band Infinite, previously acknowledged by Billboard; and paving new possibilities for K-Pop, Crayon Pop.

Starting with the pride of the Korean film industry, director Bong Joon Ho; irreplaceable actor Song Kang Ho; “snow queen” Tilda Swinton, who has received a tremendous amount of love from Koreans; affirmed world star Lee Byung Hun; Lee Jong Suk, 21^st century gentleman; charismatic Lee Jung Jae; possessing an inherently unique presence, Jung Woo Sung; next generation box-office success maker Kim Soo Hyun; everybody’s Joo-gun, So Ji Sub; child actor who has become a man Yeo Jin Goo; natural-born beauty Park Shin Hye; stylish actress Kim Min Hee; to a name synonymous for romantic comedies, Gong Hyo Jin, the nominee list also consists of Hallyu drama and film icons.

Variety nominees include “luggage boy” Lee Seo Jin (“Grandpas Over Flowers“), loved by all generations; infant soldier Park Hyung Sik (“Real Men“); 19+ variety god Shin Dong Yup; and swearing comedian Kim Seul Gi.

Online voting has started for this year’s “Style Icon Awards” from October 1 to October 15, via the official homepage (sia.interest.me). Language support for English, Japanese, Chinese etc is available so Hallyu fans may also participate in voting.

Voting will be decided by netizen voting (30%), Korean research (40%), and SIA executive committee scoring (30%). The combined score will decide who amongst the 50 nominees will make up this year’s “The People Who Inspire Your Life 10 Style Icons” and the “Style Icon of the Year.” The award ceremony will be held on October 24 at 7:00 PM at the Sangam-dong CJ E&M Center in Seoul.
