T.O.P Is Dominating the Music Charts with “Doom Dada”

Big Bang’s T.O.P recently came back as a solo artist for the first time in three years with “Doom Dada,” after his solo “Turn It Up” in 2010, and it is utterly dominating the daily music charts.

As soon as the track was released on November 15, it achieved an ‘all-kill’ on ten music sites, hitting number one on all of their real-time music charts. On November 16, it took the number one spots on the daily charts for Melon, Olleh, Bugs, Mnet, Genie, and others.

Moreover, the track is number one on the iTunes singles chart for Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Macao, and Malaysia. He also has a good start in the U.S., in 148th with his new song.

T.O.P wrote “Doom Dada” himself, and co-composed the song with Choice37, who has worked on hit songs like Big Bang’s “Bad Boy” and G-Dragon’s “One of a Kind.”

“Doom Dada” has rough yet abstract lyrics, and a surreal feel to the track. It perfectly compliments T.O.P’s unique voice, and features an impressive high-speed rap and an addicting hook.

The music video that was released on November 16 through YG’s public blog is, true to the sound of the track, unique and full of eccentric scenes.

The video was directed by Seo Hyun Seung, who recently worked on Taeyang’s recent Ringa Linga” music video, and is quite the feast for the eyes and ears.

On November 22, at the “2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)” held in Hong Kong, T.O.P is putting on a fresh and symbolic performance, tracing back human evolution and representing the regression of popular culture.
