“Reply 1994” Ratings Increase Per Episode Seems Unending
Drama viewers are definitely replying to tvN’s “Reply 1994,” tuning in every Friday and Saturday evenings to catch new episodes. Viewers of the drama responded to Saturday night’s episode 11, bringing in the highest ratings yet for the drama.
“Reply 1994’s” episode 11, which broadcasted on November 23, brought in an average viewer rating of 9.3%, while at one point of the drama, peaking at 10.6%. Nielson Korea showed a 0.5% increase from last Saturday’s episode 10 ratings. The drama’s 10th episode recorded an average rating of 8.8%, with the ratings peaking at 10.0% in one point of the drama. The best one minute viewership rating for episode 11 was during the tense exchange between Trash (actor Jung Woo) and Chil Bong (actor Yoo Yeon Suk). As the average viewership ratings of Korean cable dramas are significantly lower due to the limited availability of cable, a cable drama’s ability to peak in the double digits is considered a phenomenal success.
However, why are fans upset after the broadcast of episode 11? That’s because 9.3% of Korea who watched episode 11 must wait one more week for episode 12, due to the drama’s one day break last Friday for the live airing of Mnet’s Asian Music Awards (MAMA) during the same time slot. In other words, viewers must wait one more week to find out what happened after the serious exchange between Garbage and Chil Bong. How torturous, right?
It’s evident that “Reply 1994’s” plot plans to shake things up as viewers were able to watch the love triangle between Trash, Na Jung (actress Go Ara), and Chil Bong officially set sail. Although this week viewers were only able to watch one episode of the beloved drama, “Reply 1994” is expected to once again garner the ratings with its compelling and funny storyline.
TvN’s “Reply 1994” airs every Friday and Saturday at 8:40PM KST.
