Singer Lim Kim Took Home a Total of Four Rookie Awards Last Year
Singer Lim Kim swept the rookie awards at major award ceremonies in 2013 with her first full-length album “Goodbye 20.” Her stellar performance last year has once again become a topic of interest.
Lim Kim first came into public attention through Mnet’s “Superstar K” Season 3 in 2011, later signing on to Yoon Jong Shin’s label, Mystic89. She released her first mini-album “A Voice” in June 2013.
Her debut album’s title song, “All Right,” hit number 1 on various music charts and was warmly received on music shows as well. “Goodbye 20” followed in November last year.
Lim Kim’s success has no doubt contributed to Mystic89’s rise to prominence in the K-Pop entertainment industry. She emerged as the most noteworthy female rookie artist of 2013, taking home four rookie awards at the 2013 Melon Music Awards, 28th Golden Disk Awards, 23rd High1 Seoul Music Awards, and the 3rd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.
The singer also added one more trophy to her resume, taking home the Ballad Artist Award at the 20th Korea Entertainment Arts Awards. She was also in the running for three awards, Rookie of the Year, Best Pop Album and Best Pop Song, at the 11th Annual Korean Music Awards held on February 28.
Lim Kim collaborated with singer Yang Hee Eun on SBS “Super Match,” performing “The Blue Night of Jeju Island,” and has also released a duet with another veteran singer, Lee Seung Hwan, entitled “Soap.”
She was featured on Lee Ssang’s “Carousel” as part of a Sony headphone commercial, as well as more recently on rapper Zizo’s “Winter of Haeundae.” With her unique, charismatic vocals, it’s no wonder that Lim Kim has been said to have received many offers to feature in the songs of other artists.
Lim Kim and her Togeworl partner, Do Dae Yoon, surprised everyone with a new single, “Talk to Me,” on February 9. She is currently working on a wide range of activities and preparing for a new album.
