Kim Heechul Praises Self for "Performance of a Lifetime" in "Grandpas Over Flowers"
If there’s one thing Kim Heechul is best known for, it’s being true to himself.
So when he praised himself saying there’s always been rumors about him being respectful, he probably was telling the truth.
At the production presentation of the tvN show, “Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit,” held in the morning of May 7 at the National Press Club, Gwanghwamun Press Center, the singer-host-actor shared his thoughts regarding acting alongside veteran actors Lee Soon Jae, Byun Hee Bong, and Jang Gwang.
“I spoke casually to the elders and acted like a rash person. I showed the performance of a lifetime,” said Kim Heechul.
Frank and with a no-nonsense personality, Kim Heechul was quick to admit that it didn’t come easy for him. “All my life, I’ve been rumored to be very respectful that’s why speaking in casual tone to the elders and acting the way I did to them required great talent in acting for me.”
“It’s a good thing that they (veteran actors) helped me by replying with adlibs. Sir Jang Gwang told me, ‘Speak casually, I’m your junior in the industry anyway’,” revealed Kim Heechul.
In “Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit,” Kim Heechul plays the role of an investigator in the Special Investigations Unit together with Lee Soon Jae, Byun Hee Bong, and Jang Gwang who all have suddenly transformed into 70-year-old elders. The new comedy noir will show the struggle of the elders to rejuvenate and gain back their original elite police physique back when they were in their 20s.
Catch Heechul’s “performance of a lifetime” in “Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit” starting May 9, 9:50 p.m. (KST) at the cable channel tvN.
