Teen Top's Chunji Cast as Male Lead for Korea-Japan Co-Production Musical
Chunji of male group Teen Top has landed his first lead role in a musical by being cast in “On Air – Night Flight.”
This marks Chunji’s second musical project this year, following his successful debut through “Caffeine” in June.
Chunji will portray the male lead Jay, who is the ex-leader of a popular idol group. After getting involved in a scandal, Jay decides to hide from the spotlight, but he soon rises from the bottom and starts a new career in Japan as a radio DJ.
The musical has earned praise for its fresh format, as the audience will be able to enjoy the concert scenes as if they were attending an actual concert. For Chunji, this will be an opportunity to showcase his professional singing and dancing skills as the member of an established K-Pop group.
To celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Korea–Japan Normalization Treaty of 1965, the musical will hold shows in both countries next year. The show will also be a co-production between Korea and Japan.
“On Air” starring Chunji will run from February 4 to 12 at the Tokyo Roppongi Blue Theater.
