SM Entertainment Reveals EXO's Xiumin was Too Sick to Attend Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards Show

SM Entertainment has explained EXO member Xiumin’s absence at last night’s 4th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards show, revealing that he was too sick to attend the event.

“Xiumin was unable to attend the awards ceremony because of a bad cold,” an SM representative said, confirming that the singer was taking some time off to recover.

After winning the 2nd quarter Album of the Year award for “Overdose,” the group took to the stage to express their gratitude to SM Entertainment and their fans. Commenting on Xiumin’s absence, group leader Suho said, “We will be sure to share this honor with Xiumin, who couldn’t be here tonight. Please look out for our next project in 2015.”

Meanwhile, the 4th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards ceremony took place last night in Seoul’s Olympic Gymnastics Arena. EXO took home the 2nd quarter award for Album of the Year, while TVXQ took the 1st quarter award and Super Junior swept the 3rd and 4th quarter awards.
