8 Hot Male Actors Cross-dressing in K-Dramas
Cross-dressing is an extremely popular trope in K-Dramas. One of your first K-Dramas might have been “Coffee Prince” or “You’re Beautiful.” There are so many, but did you notice that most of the gender-bending involves females cross-dressing as males rather than males dressing as females? While we enjoy women cross-dressing as men, especially if it’s for a good reason such as in “Painter of the Wind” and “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” it’s all the more exciting when we see men dressing up as women in K-Dramas since it is a bit more rare. So let’s go ahead and check out some of our favorite male actors dressing up as women.
1. Ji Sung
Ji Sung’s fabulous Ahn Yo Na character in “Kill Me, Heal Me” is probably most fresh in our memories. Mischievous schoolgirl Ahn Yo Na is one of seven different identities that the actor is portraying. His lip tint loving acting was so good that he sold out that particular cosmetic product. Wouldn’t you love to see more actors with serious images try cross-dressing?
Here’s a bonus picture of the actor acting as bad boy Shin Se Gi who changes his identity into Ahn Yo Na, as evinced by the application of lip gloss.
2. Lee Jang Woo
Lee Jang Woo’s character is required to wear heels for a week in order to understand what women feel when they wear heels in “I Do, I Do.” His friend encourages him to go the extra mile and dress up as a woman for a day. The result is a girlified Lee Jang Woo for our viewing pleasure. Below is a bonus picture of him adjusting his clothing.
3. Seo Jun Young
Actor Seo Jun Young has a career consisting of a variety of roles, but definitely not many feminine roles. I was pleasantly surprised to see that he could be an attractive female as well. In “To the Beautiful You,” he dresses up as a girl for a talent show where boys compete to be the most beautiful girl. His fellow cast member is up next!
4. Lee Hyun Woo
Lee Hyun Woo dressed up as a cute schoolgirl in “To the Beautiful You” for a few scenes. His shy gestures are quite convincing aren’t they? This drama wins for having the most males cross-dress as females. Z:EA’s Kwanghee also participated in the talent show mentioned above.
5. Sunwoong
You might not recognize Sunwoong, a member of boy group Touch, but he sure makes for a pretty guy and girl. In “Ma Boy,” which stars Kim So Hyun as the main character, Sunwoong portrays a boy who also dresses up as a female CF star. While Sunwoong looks pretty feminine in the drama, he looks more masculine outside of this role.
6. Jung Il Woo
We couldn’t omit sageuk cross-dressing; how do you like men in hanboks? Jung Il Woo showed that his type of pretty extends to both genders in “Moon River” (also known as”Return of Iljimae”). He dresses as a gisaeng in order to gain some information. Here’s some more prettiness to gaze at:
7. Lee Min Ho
Prior to his “Boys Over Flowers” success and fame, Lee Min Ho dressed up as a school girl in “Mackerel Run.” I couldn’t recognize him when I first saw this picture, how about you?
8. Choi Woo Shik
“Hogu’s Love” star Choi Woo Shik dressed up as a lovely lady in the sageuk drama “The Duo” back in 2011. The cute actor actually also cross-dressed for “Rooftop Prince” a year later. Who would like to see him do it again in his latest drama?
That’s all for our list of hot male actors cross-dressing in K-Dramas. Hopefully there will be more to come for our enjoyment. Which actors were the most convincing and who else would you like to see dressed up as a female? Vote and share your comments below!
