Midst the controversy surrounding Lee Tae Im and Yewon, tvN‘s late-night comedy show “SNL Korea” has spoken out about their buzz-creating parody skit that aired on March 28.

A representative from “SNL Korea” told the show’s perspective on the issue to the media on March 30. “We did not create the parody with a specific agenda. We are hoping that the viewers don’t try to put too much meaning behind it,” they said, “if they do, we think that one of the two involved will end up feeling attacked.”

“We weren’t trying to be on someone’s side in this issue. Also, as people who are also part of the entertainment industry, we weren’t trying to make [Lee Tae Im and Yewon’s] lives harder by doing this parody. Our show specializes in parodies, and it was just another part of it. We’re hoping the viewers will consider a parody as just a parody. If not, we will be limited to what we can talk about on the show.”
