Henry Tells Yewon to Call Him 'Oppa' on 'We Got Married'

On this week’s episode of “We Got Married,” Henry surprises Yewon with his suggestions for what they should call each other.

Viewers finally get to see the two again for the first time after the video of Yewon and Lee Tae Im’s incident was leaked online, as their segment was omitted last week ostensibly due to time constraints.

In the April 4 episode, as the two are on the way to the location of their date (and proposal!), Henry suddenly tells Yewon to call him “oppa” – despite the fact that they were born in the same year.

According to common beliefs about age hierarchy in Korea, Yewon and Henry are in the same peer group because they were both born in 1989. Therefore they could simply call each other by their first names once they get to know each other, instead of using terms like “oppa” or “noona.”

But Henry tells Yewon that as he was born in October and her birthday is in December, he is older than her and therefore should be called “oppa.” He confesses in the show’s interview that he wants Yewon to call him “oppa” because he wants her to think he’s manly.

He also surprises Yewon by calling her “baby”!

Henry shows his affection for Yewon throughout the episode, as he confesses that he missed her and keeps looking over at her while he’s driving.

What do you think about Henry’s suggestion that Yewon call him “oppa”?
