Tao's Father Says Tao Has Agreed to Leave EXO
In an exclusive interview with Chinese media outlet Sina on April 23, Tao’s father said that his son has agreed to leave EXO.
“Ultimately, Tao agreed to leave [EXO]. My son’s treatment is the foremost priority. The rest is up for Tao to contemplate and decide,” the father said.
Like in the heartfelt letter he wrote yesterday, Tao’s father emphasized that his request to SM Entertainment for Tao’s release is based on his concern for Tao’s health and rest, “Since his debut three years ago, Tao has participated in a lot of programs that have a high risk of injury. My heart hurts so much because his company [SM Entertainment] didn’t treat his injuries at the proper times.”
He continued, “When I visited Korea in order to take him back [to China] to get treatment, all of a sudden the company said, ‘Let’s talk about Tao’s future.’ It was during that discussion that [the proposal for] a personal workshop [for Tao] was brought up, and I was happy because I thought the company was finally acknowledging my son’s toils. But in the end that didn’t work out.
“My heart breaks, too, to have to make this decision on Tao’s departure. Tao loves music and the team [EXO]. Even though he couldn’t get proper treatment for his injuries, he was never once resentful. As a father, I can no longer watch my son getting up on stage injured.”
