IU Shares Her Fan Letter to SHINee's Jonghyun

On October 18, IU made a guest appearance at “THE STORY by JONGHYUN,” a solo concert by SHINee’s Jonghyun that is part of SM’s new relay concert series “The Agit.”

Throughout his concerts, Jonghyun had invited many different guest performers and IU was the last to appear. She and Jonghyun are known for being close and sharing their thoughts on music with each other. In 2013 Jonghyun wrote the song “A Gloomy Clock” for her album “Modern Times.”

On the day of the concert, IU wrote a letter to Jonghyun expressing her admiration for the idol singer. “He and I have a lot of similarities,” she writes. “We both spent eight years as idols, we’re both in our twenties with so much still to prove, and we’re both trying to find ourselves through writing and singing. Like me, he is a workaholic.”

“When I see him, I want to tell him to rest but I understand his feelings and cheer him on,” she continues. “I think he’s working hard and living well. I hope he will take care of his health.”

At the concert at the SM Coex Atrium, IU and Jonghyun sang a duet version of “A Gloomy Clock.” Meanwhile, IU’s new mini-album “CHAT-SHIRE” is set to be released on October 23 at midnight KST.
