“Produce 101” Trainees Impress and Disappoint the Judges on First Episode
The competition on Mnet’s survival program “Produce 101” has begun.
On the first episode broadcast January 22, the 101 trainees greeted the judges and the audience for the first time. Throughout the competition, it was clear that the trainees were wary of one another, and even at times envious of the trainees from the larger agencies.
During the “level test,” the trainees got to show off their true talents. The DIA members, who had already debuted, were unable to impress the judges and ended up in tears. The same thing happened with the DSP Media trainees, who had previously stood on stage in Japan, but only scored a “D” on the test.
On the other hand, the judges gave all three Jellyfish Entertainment trainees an “A” score, impressed by their singing and dancing talent. Former F-ve Dolls member Heo Chan Mi also impressed the judges with her performance, proving her 10 years’ worth of experience.
“Produce 101” is Mnet’s girl group project, gathering 101 trainees from various agencies across the country in order to debut a project girl group of 11 members, who will be active for a year after their debut. The show is broadcast every Friday at 11 p.m. KST.
