WINNER Shares Their Inspiration for “Sentimental” in Nylon Pictorial

Idol group WINNER recently shot a pictorial for Nylon magazine’s April issue! The photo shoot features serious, but laid-back pictures of the group hanging out in various hotel rooms, including one emergency exit. Several of the photos are black-and-white to evoke a nostalgic feeling.

WINNER made a comeback in early 2016 after a year-and-a-half-long hiatus. “We got rid of our uneasiness [about the break] through working,” Nam Tae Hyun said. “I thought of my work as an ‘exit’ from feeling anxious. I used the time to listen to different music and expand my artistic horizons.”

Song Mino also shared the inspiration behind “Sentimental,” one of their double title tracks off the album “EXIT: E.” “There’s a line that goes, ‘Just looking at the ceiling,’” he said. “I work at nighttime and when [our comeback] kept getting pushed back, I started feeling sentimental about various things. I would often stare at the ceiling. I thought that ‘Sentimental’ expressed the feelings of that time well.”
