First Generation Idol Group Sechs Kies to Reunite for the First Time in 16 Years
One of the original idol groups that defined the Korean music scene in the 1990s is set to reunite soon!
Alongside other legendary groups such as H.O.T., S.E.S., and Fin.K.L., Sechs Kies was one of the idol groups that pioneered the path for the K-pop that we know today. They have not all stood together on stage in 16 years but thanks to MBC’s “Infinite Challenge,” that is soon to change!
On March 31, a broadcast representative confirmed that Sechs Kies will be reuniting for “Infinite Challenge,” adding that they have already filmed twice over the course of the last two weeks and have one final recording of a guerilla concert that is set to be filmed in the near future.
Moreover, it was also confirmed that six members, Eun Ji Won, Kang Sung Hoon, Jang Soo Won, Kim Jae Duk, Lee Jae Jin, and Go Ji Yong, will be featured on the show. Previously, there were rumors that Go Ji Yong’s participation in the filming was not yet certain but the representative said that he was indeed present with the rest of his group.
Their guerilla concert is said to be filmed on April 7 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium but the MBC representative was hesitant to confirm that news, also adding that their official comeback was not confirmed as well.
Sechs Kies debuted in 1997 with “School Song,” and followed that up with hit songs such as “Couple” and “Yegam.” They officially disbanded in May of 2000.
