10 Things You Didn't Know About TWICE
With TWICE’s recent comeback and huge success, it’s time to share some little known facts about the group. Whether you’re a newcomer to the fandom or a hardcore fan, this list will give you a look back on TWICE’s unique draw and individuality of the members.
TWICE’s debut music video “Like Ooh-Ahh” recently surpassed 2NE1’s debut video, making TWICE the girl group with the most-viewed debut music video of all time. 2NE1’s “Fire” music video has 42 million views. Not long after breaking that milestone, “Like Ooh-Ahh” also surpassed the most-viewed K-pop debut music video of all time, NU’EST’s “Face,” which has 48 million views. “Like Ooh-Ahh” is currently going on 63 million views just eight months after being released.
Jungyeon comes from a family of entertainers! Her sister is none other than actress Gong Seung Yeon, who trained under SM Entertainment and was paired with CNBLUE’s Lee Jong Hyun on “We Got Married.”
Gong Seung Yeon has frequently shown her support for her sister.
On Sana’s birthday in December 2015, a fan of the group bought TWICE members a variety of luxury items worth over 10 million Korean won (approximately $8,400) at a fan signing. However, the man who gifted the items said that he “didn’t spend that much” on them, considering it’s around $900 per member.
The leader of TWICE, Jihyo, was a trainee in JYP Entertainment for 10 years before she got the chance to debut with TWICE. As a result, she is close with many JYP stars in other groups, including Suzy of miss A, Sunmi of Wonder Girls, Jokwon, and others.
Mina practiced ballet for 11 years before she became part of TWICE. She even performed it on the first episode of “Sixteen” for her first performance, and JYP loved it.
When Tzuyu went back to Taiwan to take her middle school graduation exam, she signed a desk at her school, which the principal put on display as a symbol of national pride. The desk was even featured on the news and cordoned off.
Nearly all the members of TWICE have been in the background or had minor roles in the music videos of other JYP groups, including GOT7, miss A, and 2PM.
Tzuyu is actually the tallest member of the group at 169 cm, despite being the youngest member. Not only that, but due to her age, she is still growing and likely to become even taller.
When the members of TWICE were being selected on the final episode of “Sixteen,” Momo was in the crowd watching the other members on stage when JYP himself announced that he was re-adding Momo to the group, despite the fact that she was eliminated in an earlier round.
In addition to the success of TWICE’s latest comeback in Korea, the album “Page Two” has also reached the number one spot on the iTunes K-pop Album charts of Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. In Korea, the group achieved a perfect all-kill by reaching the number one spot on eight different online music charts.
