7 K-Pop Girl Groups That Are Going To Light Up The Summer

Every year there is a rush of summer comebacks, but this summer it’s all about the girl groups.

From veteran idol groups like Wonder Girls and SISTAR to new groups like gugudan and YG Entertainment’s upcoming girl group, there’s plenty to stan.

Check out the girl groups making comebacks this summer (in no particular order)!

1. SISTAR

Well-known for their catchy summer tracks, SISTAR will be back this summer. From the looks of their latest teaser video, it seems like fans will be able to enjoy another hip summer anthem from the group.

2. GFRIEND

GFRIEND has enjoyed great popularity with their title tracks despite their rookie status. Many fans are excited to see whether they can keep the ball rolling with their next release this summer.

3. Red Velvet

Red Velvet has shown diverse charms through various concepts. They’re definitely able to pull off a summer concept as evinced by their previous hit “Ice Cream Cake.” SM has confirmed that the group is preparing for a comeback and it appears highly likely it will take place this summer.

4. Wonder Girls

Having debuted in 2007, Wonder Girls are veterans that have been able to last in the industry with their innovative concepts and transformations. They recently revealed their vinyl cover for their new single.

5. I.O.I’s Unit Group

After debuting as a project group following the end of Mnet’s “Produce 101,” I.O.I is preparing to make a comeback with its first ever unit group. The unit group members have been confirmed as Choi Yoojung,  Zhou Jieqiong, Kim Doyeon, Im Nayoung Jeon Somi, Kim Chungha, and Kim Sohye.

6. gugudan

Jellyfish Entertainment’s first girl group actually includes two I.O.I members, Kim Sejeong and Kang Mina. Other members include Kim Nayoung, Haebin, Sally, Hyeyeon, Soyee, Mimi, and Hana.

7. YG’s Upcoming Girl Group

YG is planning on debuting their new girl group this summer. So far the agency has confirmed Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie as members. No word on how many members there will be in total yet.
