Lee Byung Hun Appointed As New Member Of The Academy
Korean actor Lee Byung Hun has been appointed as one of the new members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
On June 30, Lee Byung Hun released a statement through his agency, BH Entertainment. “It is an honor to be chosen as an Academy member. There are so many amazing directors and actors in Korea. I will work hard to use this opportunity to give Korean cinema greater exposure in the world.”
The Academy sent out 683 membership invitations on June 29 to filmmakers and actors around the world. Every year, the Academy chooses a number of films in various categories in a ceremony known as the Academy Awards (Oscars).
Lee Byung Hun has been in a number of high-grossing films in South Korea and more recently has appeared in Hollywood pictures such as “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and “Terminator Genisys.”
