Lee Bong Gyu Apologizes For Speaking About Song Joong Ki And Park Bo Gum False Rumor
On the July 6 episode of TV Chosun’s talk show “Powerful Opponents,” panelist Lee Bong Gyu apologized for his remarks on the previous episode.
Previously, Lee Bong Gyu spoke about a rumor regarding the individuals who were with Park Yoochun on the night of the first account of alleged sexual assault on the June 29 episode.
Many criticized the fact that he used the full names of the rumored celebrities on broadcast. Although their names were beeped out, viewers were able to find out that Song Joong Ki, Park Bo Gum, and Jun Hyun Moo were the individuals included in the rumor.
Following the broadcast, the three individuals’ agencies spoke against the false rumor and revealed plans to pursue legal action against the source of the false rumor. Furthermore, Song Hye Kyo and Yoo Ah In‘s agency provided proof that Song Joong Ki was not with Park Yoochun on that night.
Lee Bong Gyu said, “Police investigations revealed that no celebrities were in attendance [with Park Yoochun] that night. It was also not found in the victims’ statements. I apologize to viewers for the misunderstanding.”
MC Park Jong Jin promised, “We will become a show that gains trust with accurate news.”
However, criticism of Lee Bong Gyu and the show remains as there was no apology directed toward Song Joong Ki, Park Bo Gum, and Jun Hyun Moo.
