'Boys24' Announces Sangmin’s Withdrawal, Will Hold Online Vote To Bring Back 5 Contestants

It has been announced that “Boys24” finalist Sangmin has had to withdraw from the competition, while five contestants will have another chance at grabbing a spot in the planned new boy group.

On August 6, Mnet aired the last episode of its survival boy group competition show entitled “Boys24,” in which the final twenty-four contestants were determined. The winners will spend the next year holding performances as the competition continues, until six members are chosen to make their debut as a new boy group.

It has unfortunately now been announced that Sangmin, who was the leader of Unit Sky on the show, has had to leave the competition. “Boys24” states, “Sangmin shared his intention to withdraw due to issues such as his health, and after much worrying and discussion, we have decided to respect his wishes.”

They go on to say, “We will be holding a ‘Favorite Member Return Match’ in order to choose someone to fill Sangmin’s spot, as well as to choose four additional contestants as a precautionary measure to avoid the various situations that can occur due to the nature of their long period of performances.”

Fans will be voting on which contestants they would like to see return to the competition. The vote will begin on August 10 at 11 a.m. KST and run until the end of the day on August 14, and will be held via the show’s official website.

The show says they are very sad to see Sangmin go, but that they hope fans will continue to support and encourage him.

The guys of “Boys24” will be starting their year of performances at the “Boys24 x Booto Hall” on September 22.
