Yang Hyun Suk Shares His Expectations For CL's American Debut

YG Entertainment’s founder, Yang Hyun Suk, has nothing but praise for CL’s American debut.

CL, who has launched both a solo career and group career with 2NE1 in Korea, released her first official American single “Lifted” on August 19 (KST). Her U.S. career is currently under the management of Scooter Braun, who also manages global powerhouses such as Justin Bieber.

On August 18, Yang Hyun Suk said in an interview, “CL’s current image is ‘cool and powerful.’ I hope that her U.S. management team maintains that image for her and I know she will do well.”

“After her American debut was announced, many people started talking about things like chart performance,” he continued. “But I just want her music and art to be acknowledged by outsiders as well as fans. The U.S. market is a big one, so both CL and I agreed not to get too hung up on her chart performance and statistics from the start. I think her song and music video came out really well.”

He concluded, “I’m cheering her on as a fan, and I hope many people do too.”
