GOT7's Jinyoung Dishes On How JYP Responded To His Decision To Go By His Real Name

On the September 28 episode of MBC Every1 program “Weekly Idol,” GOT7 member Jinyoung dishes on his decision to go by his real name rather than Junior.

During the show, MC Kim Heechul asks Jinyoung on what led him to make the change three years into his debut. Jinyoung responds, “While talking with my family, I realized that rather than going by Junior, I wanted use my real name, and that’s how I came to use Jinyoung.”

When asked how Park Jin Young responded to his decision given the fact that they share the same name, Jinyoung says, “He didn’t mention it [directly], but when I met him after [I made the decision], his facial expression was a bit different.”
