2016 Melon Awards Reveals Top 30, Opens Voting For Top 10 Artists

The 2016 Melon Awards — teamed up with Kakao this year — has revealed the top 30 artists in the running for this year’s top 10 artists.

The top 30 include artists from a variety of genres such as dance, hip hop, ballad, and indie. These artists (listed below), who have made releases in the period of November 19, 2015 to November 19, 2016, are selected by their combined values of music downloads (accounting for 60 percent) and music streams (accounting for 40 percent).

Voting will account for 20 percent of the points in determining the top 10, and album points will be 80 percent. The first round of voting is taking place for two weeks from October 21 to November 3. Results for the first round will be revealed on the morning of November 4, and the second round of voting will start that afternoon.

The award ceremony will be held on November 19. This year, for the first time ever, the ticket purchasing system will allow audience members to choose their own seats. Tickets will become available on October 24, and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
