TWICE Wins Song Of The Year At 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards
The 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2016 MAMA) aired the evening of December 2 KST and featured some of the top artists from Korea and across Asia. Actors, choreographers, producers, and the top K-pop acts of the year were all in attendance. With 23 main K-pop awards categories and a plethora of other awards to recognize talent from across Asia, MAMA goes all out to celebrate the best in Asian music.
TWICE brought home two awards from the evening: Best Female Group and Song of the Year (one of the Daesang awards) for “Cheer Up.”
It’s obvious that the group wasn’t expecting their win and when their name was called, the group sat frozen for a few seconds as the news sank in.
Leader Jihyo fought back tears as she expressed her amazement that just last year the group stood on the stage as rookies and were now receiving such an amazing award. She ended her speech reminding fans that TWICE loved them. Congratulations to TWICE and their fans!
