"Hwarang" PD Explains How It Compares To "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds" And Other Dramas

On December 16, KBS2’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Hwarang” held a press conference at Imperial Palace Hotel.

Producing director Yoon Seong Sik was asked about “Hwarang” and other recent historical dramas.

He commented, “There were many youth historical dramas produced this year like SBS’s ‘Scarlet Heart: Goryeo‘ and KBS2’s ‘Moonlight Drawn by Clouds.’ They have a tendency to appear similar in terms of the exterior and structure, but the contents and overall tone are completely different.”

Yoon Seong Sik continued, “Rather than concentrating on a love story like ‘Moonlight Drawn by Clouds,’ our drama is bright, funny, and will balance characters’ stories of growth. Our drama will make people burst out in laughter and put smiles on their faces.”

The producing director was also asked about the aspect of “Hwarang” being fully pre-produced and filmed. He said, “Being pre-produced had the positive aspect of being able to get immersed in the subject and it helped actors polish their acting.”

As for going up against SBS’s “Romantic Doctor Kim,” Yoon Seong Sik showed confidence in “Hwarang” and answered, “Our drama has its own differentiation.”
