Song Joong Ki Cries During Park Bo Gum's Tearful Speech After Win At 2016 KBS Drama Awards

Blossom Entertainment label mates (and two of 2016’s hottest stars) Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Gum showed just how much they care for each other at the 2016 KBS Drama Awards.

Park Bo Gum took home one of two Male Top Excellence Awards at the December 31 ceremony for his performance as Lee Young in the hit drama “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds.” After his name was announced, the young actor was already teary when he stepped up to the microphone.

During his thank you speech, Park Bo Gum cried as he said, “When I was working on ‘Moonlight Drawn by Clouds,’ I felt like I was very lacking. But I’m grateful to Song Joong Ki, who gave me advice every time.” As he tearfully thanked the crew, fellow actors, staff from the show, and his father, the camera showed Song Joong Ki wiping away tears several times.

After Park Bo Gum’s speech, host Jun Hyun Moo teased Song Joong Ki (who was still trying to get rid of the evidence of his tears) by saying, “Song Joong Ki, why are you crying so much?” Meanwhile, Song Hye Kyo laughed next to him and hit his shoulder, before the pair both covered their faces to hide from the camera.

Later on, Jun Hyun Moo asked Park Bo Gum (who was also a host that evening) about why Song Joong Ki cried so much. Park Bo Gum laughed and explained, “He’s a very good senior actor at my company. I had a really hard time while I was filming this drama, and I couldn’t find a balance. Song Joong Ki understood that more than anyone else, and he gave me a lot of advice, so I wanted to say that I’m really grateful.”

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo later jointly received the Grand Award for their work in “Descendants of the Sun.” Song Joong Ki had to wipe away some tears again before he made his thank you speech, and he laughed as he explained, “Park Bo Gum made me cry.”

As he cried while trying to express his thanks, the show cut to Park Bo Gum, who naturally looked emotional and proud about Song Joong Ki’s win as well.

At the end of the show, Jun Hyun Moo joked about how Park Bo Gum and Song Joong Ki’s show of friendship was sure to become a hot topic, and the pair reached over and gave each other a hug.
