Singer So Chan Whee And Street Guns' Roy To Wed This Year
So Chan Whee will be marrying Roy, the contrabass player of Street Guns, in the earlier half of this year.
On January 1, the couple’s agency, Wide Entertainment, said, “They have already registered their marriage and are a married couple in legal terms,” and, “Although they have announced that the wedding will be in the first half of 2017, Street Guns has overseas performances while So Chan Whee has her Korea concert tour, so they are still figuring out the schedule.”
The couple has been dating for three years, and first met back when Roy was a co-producer of So Chan Whee’s album “Neo Rockabilly Season,” released in March 2014. They also appeared together in the teaser image for the album.
So Chan Whee is considered one of Korea’s most representative female rockers, with hits like “Tears” and “Wise Choice” in her repertoire. Those less acquainted with her might recognize her from the “Totoga!” special of “Infinite Challenge” in 2014, and her duet stages from last year’s “Duet Song Festival.” The 20-year veteran singer is also a professor at the Daekyung University of Practical Music and Art.
Roy, who is six years younger than So Chan Whee, is a member of the Korean rock band Street Guns (previously “RockTigers”). The band recently took home the grand prize of Hard Rock Rising 2016, a global competition organized by Hard Rock International that saw nearly 10,000 contestants from all over the world.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
