BTS' "Spring Day" MV Teaser Sparks Lots Of Interesting Fan Theories
As soon as BTS released the teaser video for their upcoming MV “Spring Day” on February 10 at midnight KST, fans put their detective hats on and began to theorize!
The teaser video for “Spring Day” features plenty of aesthetically stunning shots that may look innocent enough at first glance. However, fans have delved into the scenes to find some interesting potential hints about the video’s deeper (and possibly darker) storyline and its connection to their other releases.
Many fans have noticed that the large neon sign above the motel in the teaser video reads “Omelas,” which may be a reference to the 1973 short story titled “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” by Ursula K. Le Guin. With the group’s short films for their last album “WINGS” and music video for “Blood, Sweat & Tears” featuring themes and excerpts from Hermann Hesse’s novel “Demian,” it doesn’t seem like a stretch to think that the group’s new release may feature another literary connection.

Fans have quickly spotted a possible link between the short story title and the title of BTS’s upcoming album “You Never Walk Alone,” and are wondering what it might mean for the music video’s plot.

it's possible jimin wasnt the unfortunate child but rather the one who decided to walk away from utopia after finding out what it cost pic.twitter.com/6JrwO72iaY

The shots of Jimin standing on the beach holding a pair of shoes and the shoes later hanging on a tree branch have also left fans in confusion (and worry). Many have wondered if this signifies either Jimin’s character’s death, is an explanation for why his fellow member Jin was the only one barefoot in the group’s “WINGS” teaser photos, or something else entirely.

BTS realized that it's unfair that Jin is the only one wearing shoes in RUN so they decided to hang his shoes on the tree 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/ophnC6jN5H

Jungkook and Jimin’s makeup is also sparking some concern for fans, as many are worried that the storyline features one of the members’ characters dying.

Other details in the teaser, such as the “No Vacancy” sign at the motel, have sparked some theories about a very dark plotline as well.

In addition, there are potential links between some scenes in the teaser and the plots of BTS’s other music videos, particularly from their “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” series.
