NCT’s Mark, who was joined by Red Velvet’s Seulgi, garnered 184 points. After watching his performance, Tiger JK stated, “He received a lot of criticism for being under an agency, but because he practiced a lot, he was able to impress the audience.”
The next contestant was Choi Ha Min, who moved the audience to tears with his song dedicated to his family. His mentor Swings stated that Choi Ha Min is ready to be an artist, and Tiger JK praised him, saying, “This is real hip hop.” In the end, Choi Ha Min garnered 244 points for his powerful performance.
Jo Wonwoo prepared a stage for his father and showed off impressive rap skills that left the judges satisfied. He received a total of 243 points.
The last contestant was Yang Hong Won, who wrote a song about his controversial past and his desire to change into a better man. After watching his performance, Tiger JK commented, “He’s like a professional. I think he will become big.” Yang Hong Won ended up with 246 points, narrowly defeating Choi Ha Min by two points and taking home the crown. “It was really difficult but I won,” he said with a smile.
Meanwhile, rapper Swings, who appeared as a mentor on the show, was revealed to have been edited out from this episode as much as possible. This action was taken in response to the latest controversy surrounding the lyrics for his track “Uncomfortable Truth” that was released back in 2010. He has been receiving criticism for his lyrics aimed at Hwanhee and Junhee, the children of the late actress Choi Jin Shil. His controversial lyrics consist of the lines, “Uncomfortable truth (jinshil)? You’re all just Hwanhee and Junhee. There’s no truth (jinshil). You’re the only ones left.”
