Fans Plan Huge Times Square Billboard Project To Commemorate EXO's 5th Anniversary
EXO fans are preparing something special for EXO’s upcoming fifth debut anniversary!
On April 8, 11 billboards in Times Square in New York, including the iconic Reuters Billboard, will feature the message “EXO 5TH ANNIVERSARY” as well as photos of the EXO members. Some of the displays will also include videos congratulating EXO’s fifth anniversary.
The project was planned through EXO’s fans on the Chinese portal site Baidu. The billboards will contain congratulatory messages in Chinese, English, and Korean. This fan project is especially notable because of the current ban on Korean cultural content in China.
EXO fans have previously purchased billboard space in Times Square to celebrate the birthdays of members Chanyeol and Lay. Fans of member Sehun have also previously won the chance to display something for him.
EXO officially debuted on April 9, 2012 and soon gained popularity in both China and Korea. They are currently preparing for an encore performance of their third official concert tour, “EXO PLANET – The EXO’rDIUM” on May 27 and 28 at the Seoul Olympic Stadium.
