Kim Ok Bin Talks About The Weight Of Responsibility She Felt Because Of Her Lead Role In 'The Villainess'

Through interviews with Vogue Korea and GQ Korea, Kim Ok Bin recently talked about the responsibility she felt because of her lead role in “The Villainess,” a Korean action film that premiered at the 70th Cannes Film Festival just a few days ago.

In “The Villainess,” Kim Ok Bin plays the role of ruthless assassin, Sook Hwe, who was taught to kill from a very young age. The film is saturated with intense action sequences that kept viewers at the edges of their seats in Cannes. The film received a lengthy standing ovation after its midnight premiere from the audience, which included famed director Park Chan Wook.

The actress said, “I felt like I had to do really well in ‘The Villainess’ in order for there to be more films in the future with a female lead at the center. That was the burden of responsibility I felt I had to carry because of my role,” expressing the determination she felt while filming the movie.

She expressed her confidence in filming action scenes and said, “I poured eight months of my life into the filming of ‘The Villainess.’ There was a point during filming in which those difficult action scenes became easy for me to do, which was the most exciting feeling.”
