In celebration of Soompi’s 15th birthday, I asked some of my favorite K-Entertainment bloggers to gift us with a “15-themed” post. Dramabeans is a K-Drama blog that needs no introduction, though you may not know that it was started by a Soompier who started recapping 2007’s “Dalja’s Spring” on our very own K-Drama forum. It’s since… Continue reading Dramabeans Presents Lessons From Dramaland: How To Be 15

Measuring 2011 on the Sticky Scale [Year In Review, Part 1]
Time for another Year In Review series! How did a year pass by so quickly? I guess when you’re busy watching dramas, time flies. It’s Dramabean’s turn to weigh in on the dramas we’ve seen in 2011, including big names "Dream High," "49 Days," "City Hunter," "Scent of a Woman," "Tree With Deep Roots," "Flower Boy Ramyun Shop," and many more!
Meet the Bachelors of the "Veggie Store"
I thought we’d only have one bachelor in upcoming drama "Bachelor’s Vegetable Store," but we get SIX? They are Ji Chang Wook, Kim Young Kwang, Lee Kwang Soo, Ji Hyuk, Sung Ha, and Shin Won Ho. Budding actor Kim Young Kwang has the biggest role, playing the son of a wealthy family who teams up with Ji Chang Wook and comes to work at the shop. But we need some ladies up in this hizzy, which brings us to Wang Ji Hye ("Protect the Boss") and Park Soo Jin ("My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho"). "Bachelor’s Vegetable Store" will be a cable drama broadcasting on Channel A, and will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning on December 21.
2011 Blue Dragon Film Awards
Awards, awards, awards! Friday, November 25, was the night of the 2011 Blue Dragon Film Awards, and — no surprise — the winners list was dominated by one of the biggest films of the year, sageuk-action-thriller Bow: The Ultimate Weapon. T
Song Joong Ki for GQ
Here’s Song Joong Ki in a decidedly strange spread for GQ. Normally I’m a fan of quirky, but this one’s just plain weird. For one, they’ve got the torso and legs of a woman standing there like a headless prop, which drives me batty. And secondly, is it just me, or does he look AFRAID of what might be under that teeny tiny bikini?
Joo Won in Contention for "Moon That Embraces the Sun"
Another up-and-comer is in contention to join MBC’s "The Moon That Embraces the Sun" is Joo Won, who hit mainstream success last year with "Baker King Kim Tak Goo." The drama is the fantasy-sageuk romance based on a novel written by the "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" novelist, and is planning for a January broadcast. The cast is currently Kim Soo Hyun as a fictional Joseon king, and Han Ga In as the female shaman he falls in love with.
Jung Il Woo’s Upcoming "High Kick 3" Cameo
Jung Il Woo owes the original "High Kick" series ("The Unstoppable High Kick") for shooting him to overnight stardom in 2007, and he cameo’d in the sequel series in 2009. Now he’s heading back to the franchise for a cameo in "High Kick 3: Counterattack of the Short Legs," starring as himself. He plays a senior in high school who falls for an older woman. Jung Il Woo’s storyline will be featured in the show’s 40th episode, which airs next Monday, November 21.
Goo Hye Sun Celebrates Birthday in Australia
Goo Hye Sun is currently in Australia filming her new drama "Take Care of Us, Captain," and celebrated her 27th birthday on the set. (It was on November 9, and is counted as her 28th by the Korean age system.) The crew has been in Australia since the 4th, and on the day of her birthday was shooting at a botanical gardens. Hm, you know what that means: Australian drama fans, get out your maps and start a-stalkin’!
"Veggie Store" Gets Its Bachelor, Broadcaster, and Leading Lady
It’s confirmed: Ji Chang Wook will take the lead role in the drama series "Bachelor’s Vegetable Store," which will air on cable (surprise surprise) on Channel A. Playing his love interest in her first leading role is Wang Ji Hye, who’s coming off a string of secondary roles in well-received dramas like "Protect the Boss" and "President." "Bachelor’s Vegetable Store" has hopped over to Channel A, and will premiere on December 21.
Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Wook for "Wild Romance?"
Currently two top rom-com stars, Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Wook, are reported as likely candidates for "Wild Romance" — that recently announced romantic comedy series written by Park Yeon Seon. "Wild Romance" will air on KBS on Wednesdays and Thursdays. As the follow-up to "Man of Honor," it premieres in January and will run for 16 episodes.
