DBSK, SNSD, & Kara Confirmed to Attend NHK's "62nd Kōhaku Uta Gassen"
The representative K-Pop groups of the Korean wave, SNSD, Kara, and DBSK have been confirmed to attend NHK‘s “62nd Kōhaku Uta Gassen!”
On November 29, Japan’s Sankei Sports revealed, “SNSD, Kara, and DBSK have been added to the line up for the ceremony. This will be the very first time that the two girl groups attend at the same time. The’ve both made amazing achievements on the Oricon chart, ranking first in their respective categories. The ‘power of Korea’ has definitely descended upon the ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen.'”
Up until now, TVXQ has attended the prestigious ceremony three times in their career. This will be the first time that SNSD and Kara will be attending. They’ll be making history as the first time two foreign girl groups attend Japan’s greatest ceremony together.
On the two girl groups, the media reported, “SNSD has proven their talented vocal skills along with their impressive dance skills and beautiful legs while Kara earned widespread attention for their hip dance through ‘Mister.’ They weren’t able to attend last year’s ceremony, but riding on their success this year, they’ve finally been confirmed on the list.”
The media also revealed that actor Jang Geun Suk, Supernova, 2PM, and SHINee were in talks for attendance, but they were ultimately dropped from the final line-up.
The ceremony will be held on December 31. Over 50 teams are expected to attend, and the ceremony is considered one of the biggest and greatest year-end ceremonies in Japan. Teams are divided into red and blue and win based on popularity.
